I need some help on finding some tools to run on my Sun
2/120. If anyone knows of tools to fit the below requirements
please send the information to me. I'll post a summary if
there's interest in one.
Use for these tools is to create ROM code and off-line boot-
able diagnostics to run on Sun 2's and 3's. The Sun ROM's do not
appear to use "Motorola" format executable binaries (at least
they won't boot one). So the output of the linker must be compa-
tible with what Sun uses. (MIT format?) Please hold back on the
Oasys suggestions.
These are the "must have" features:
1. I use a Sun 2/120 for a software devel machine so the tools
must run on that. (Assume standard Sun software - 4.2)
2. MUST create assembley listings and link/load maps. The
existing Sun tools don't. Debugging ROM code or off-line
diagnostics without them can only be described as "character
building".
3. Like I said, they must support 68010 & 020.
4. Linker must create binary that is bootable by the Sun ROM's.
I cannot change this in the ROM's without disturbing our
kernel/OS group.
5. I need real established tools, not pretenders, not Beta
sight stuff. I need a tool not another task.
6. COMPLETE documentation!
This is a list of things that would be real nice:
1. Tools could use/accept Sun's assembler syntax. We have a
lot of assembly code, their's and our's, and it would be a
real plus if I didn't have to edit it all over to Motorola.
It would be painful but not as much so as no listings.
2. Tools (linker) should accept Sun's binary library files.
Again, I would prefer not to have to edit ALL my assembly
code to another format.
3. Should compile tighter code. Going 2X on the ROM binary
size would be a problem.
4. Extra debugging utilities would be also welcomed - like
debug back to the source level. I do have an ICE.
