Help with GNU C

I have in the past sucessfully installed GNU C version 1.24. I see
that there is a diff file on prep.ai.mit.edu machine. I am not a real
unix guru and so I was wondering if there was a program to apply the
diff's to the old version to get a more recent version. Any help in
this matter is appreciated.
