The ansi C standard will apply to many machines of the future, such as
super-risc machines with 1e6 registers where each register has a different
type. These discussions mostly refer to actual existing machines, but they're
not invalidated just because no machine of a certain description currently
exists, so long as it is a reasonable kind of machine that may some day exist.

p.s. :-) on the super-risc 1e6 register thing. But hey, such a machine could
run the X server entirely out of register memory.
