This list seems to have dried up as of late, and i am wondering if
there really is anybody doing eunice stuff now. If so ---
the Department of Physics at U of T has two vaxen running VMS, and
one tape labelled Eunice (from ucb) and another with some programs
also distributed by Berkeley. The name of the game is to get
eunice up on one vax and working properly. There is no documentation
on how to do this; so far there is only three frantic people who as
a spare time project would like to get some of the nice features of
unix to play with. (Then we can sell the idea to others). One is
scrambling to learn VMS, one is toiling with unix shell commands, and
the other knows some of both. If ANYONE can give a list of what
a) to do, b) not to do, or c) not even dream of doing,
we would be most grateful...a list of
known bugs and their fixes would be helpful. Some of the useful
programs (rls pwd) bomb with an error "Signal 16 - core dump", but
not every time. Also, you seem to have to be SYSTEM (root for
unix only fans) to run eunice at all.
We also have Franz lisp -- opus unknown -- which isnt
running right. Anybody know where i can get documentation on this one?
