NFS, nobody, negative UID's in passwd file.

Does anyone know why/if "nobody" needs to be in the passwd file ?

We found that if you do not have it in 'ls' will still tell you that
a file is owned by nobody if it was created by "root" on another machine.

Also...the suns have nobody set at -2 in the passwd file. Has anyone tried
doing that on the P's ? It's very interesting. Everything's hunky dorey until
someone changes their password and then low and behold the UID has changed
to 65535. This happens for ANY negative number in the password file.
(OSx4.4)
