IRIS Showcase Tip #2 -- Composing In a Large Area

When working with complex figures with IRIS Showcase,
you might find the need to work in higher resolution in a
larger space on screen.

You can achieve a good compromise between the screeen's
limited resolution but large size and the printer's high
resolution but limited size by setting your page size
to 16.5W x 12.75H using the Set Page Size... Gizmo. This
is a multiple of the 8.5 x 11 page shown in sideways
orientation on the screen.

When you print your document, set Page Style to Regular
in the Print Gizmo. Showcase will automatically scale your
document down to fit on the 8 1/2 x 11" page. This lets you
work with a larger area on screen, but still achieve the same
size output.

The sizes 16.5 x 12.75 are scaled down from 22 x17 (twice
11x8.5) to avoid laserwriter cropping and other scaling
artifacts.

However, if you are using Showcase to produce
a .rgb image file as the final output instead of a standard
Showcase file (detailed in future tips), you should use
22x17 to get the largest possible working area.
