I thought i saw something about this on this group before but
sgi's engineering support can't help us and suggested trying the net.
what we need to do is transmit and receive 8 data bits + parity
at 38.4Kbaud. we have set the stty to
38.4Kb/s; 1 start bit + 8 data bits + 1 parity bits + 1 stop bit; odd parity
and the device we talk to complains of parity errors (don't believe this
too much; in general, this is just an indicator of trouble). We had
been driving the device correctly via a specialised terminal interface
board on our terminal concentrater.
does anyone have any existence proof that an SGI 4D/240 can drive
a 9 bit tty port at 38.4K?
