4DDN/MH Problem

I'm seeing an inconsistency between mail sent with /usr/sbin/Mail and
MH6.7's send through SGI's 4DDN mail program that I hope someone can
explain. 4DDN was installed pure vanilla off the tape, using the
included 4ddn mailer description in our sendmail.cf. We use both
DECnet mail and TCP/IP mail. Everything works fine -- mail goes in all
directions and gets to the right recipients. However, depending on the
program used to mail from our 4D/320, the headings on the receiving VMS
machine have different information.

Using either AT&T or Berkeley mail, a message arrives with the expected
information in all the header fields. (Only the current recipient is
listed in the To: field, but this is an acknowleged problem which I
understand will be fixed in a later release.)

Using the MH comp and send commands, the message arrives at the VMS
host with the correct (single) To: and From: entries, but the Subject:
field is empty. The entire header, as it would have appeared on the
sending machine, appears at the beginning of the body of the message.
This is nice if you want to know who else received the message, but
the lack of a Subject: in the header on VMS is a little annoying.

Mail sent from MH on our Ultrix system using DEC's DECnet to the same
VMS host, does not have this problem.

If you've encountered and conquered this problem, or have a similar
setup and haven't seen it, I'd appreciate any clues you can provide.
If there's sufficient interest, I'll summarize responses to the net.

Thanks.
