SunOS file system block sizes

The man page for newfs(8) claims that a block size of 4096 is legal. Mkfs
creates the file system with this block size, but the kernel panics when
one tries to create files. This is under SunOS 4.0.3 on a Sun 4/280S.

Is this a new feature in SunOS? Or did Sun forget to update (yet another)
man page? ;-)
