There is a bug in rpc.lockd in which a buffer is overrun if the hostname for the current host is greater than 19 characters long. This will cause rpc.lockd to core dump on some hosts and locks to hang. This has been reported to Sun. Jim Knutson knutson at mcc.com cs.utexas.edu!milano!knutson
