The SunTroff previewer and I have moved. Schlumberger Palo Alto Research
(SPAR) has just closed so I thought it was important to let people know
where the bits are.
I haven't done any work on SunTroff in about a year. Now that I'm at
Apple I don't have a whole lot of need for this software so it has been
languishing. (Is this Apple's first submission to sun-spots??)
Anyway the most current set of bits are available for anonymous ftp from
apple.com. Look in /pub/malcolm/*.tar for the following three files
360 -rw-r--r-- 1 malcolm 358400 Jul 5 1988 suntroff.tar
1792 -rw-r--r-- 1 malcolm 1822720 Jul 5 1988 suntroff_lw.tar
2152 -rw-r--r-- 1 malcolm 2191360 Jul 5 1988 suntroff_all.tar
Suntroff.tar is roughly equivalent to the version that was on the Sun
Users Group tape. There are a few bug fixes in this version.
Suntroff_lw.tar contains the stuff needed to simulate the LaserWriter
fonts. The original version only supported Imagen and Versatec fonts so
this extra stuff is useful. Finally the third file is just the
concatenation of the first two. Note all three files are also available
in compressed form.
Also the X11R3 tape contains the Sun User's Group Tape version of SunTroff
extended to also run under the X window system. The work was done by Mark
Moraes (moraes at csri.toronto.edu) and I *think* he started with the Sun
Users Group Tape.
If you can't get the bits over the ARPAnet send me a tape with a self-
addressed-stamped-envelope and I'll put a copy on it and send it back to
you. If you want a supported version (without source, I guess) talk to
Elan.
Cheers.
