We have been using three Solbourne 4/501's for two months now, with no
compatibility problems. We are currently running CAD tools from Valid
(GED) and Gateway (Verilog); their Sun4 releases linked and ran without
incident on our machines. As far as our application programs are
concerned, Solbournes are quite compatible.
I also relish having an underworked technical support team to call upon
when I need help with Unix. Calling Solbourne's 800 number gets you
connected immediately with an engineer.
I have not done any kernel hacking or hardware work, so I can't comment on
compatibility in those areas.
