delayed head crash ??

Suppose, you've a small local disk attached to your desktop.  And suppose that
someone has moved/shook the disk just a little.  Would this cause a delayed
head crash ? -- i.e. you'll be able to work on the machine for a while (say 30
mins) and then the system would suddenly crash and then won't be able to
reboot ?
