TCP/IP and SNA

There are a number of possibilities for mixing TCP/IP and SNA networks.
The ones I have come across are:
o- Use a TCP/IP telnet to SNA 3274 gateway convertor. This looks like
a telnet host on Ethernet to UNIX systems, and looks like a 3274
terminal controller (either remote or channel attached) to the
IBM mainframe. Products which provide this are available from
        Mietek or software from SUN.

o- Add TCP/IP software to the Mainframe host and use that as a gateway
between UNIX and SNA users. Software and hardware available from
        Fibronics, ACC, even IBM.

o- To use an existing SNA network to link together a number of remote
TCP/IP networks requires something like the SNA/IP gateway available
from Brixton Systems. This is a HW/SW package that plugs into a
VME based SUN. It uses IP routing SW to route the packets across
the SNA network, by emulating an IBM Front End Processor.
o- Use a UNIX host which can also provide a very high degree of
        SNA interoperability.
