Has anyone configured POWERserver 540's with 3rd-party mass storage,
in particular, either the Segate Elite ST41520N (1.3GB capacity, 11.5
msec average seek, 5.6 msec rotational latency, 5MB/second transfer),
or Imprimis WREN-VII (1.1GB capacity, 15 msec average seek, 8.3 msec
rotational latency, 3MB/second transfer)? Are any changes to the IBM-
supplied SCSI disk driver required to drive either one? Does the IBM-
supplied driver determine the physical characteristics of the disks at
boot time, i.e., will the driver use the full capacities of any SCSI
drives connected on a given SCSI channel? What are the cable length
limitations for the IBM external SCSI interface? Any peripherals such
8mm helical-scan tape available from 3rd parties for RS/6000's?
