Broadcast problem

I am doing some experiments with broadcasts on our local tokenring network,
and I found out that on some AIX computers (PS/2 and RT) I can send
something using a broadcast, and on some not.
Does someone know if there is something that has to be
configured to use broadcasts, or have another explanation for this?
