I asked for help (not yet having the system admin manual) in printing
to an epson-compatable printer under A/UX 2.01. Several replies
pointed me in the right direction, by suggesting recourse to the
Berkeley Unix lpr/printcap system.

I added the following lines to /etc/printcap:

   generic_epson:fs#06020:fc#0300:xs#040:
   # Bull printer in SSRB108
   ssrb108:\
   :lp=/dev/modem:br#9600:sd=/usr/spool/lpd/ssrb108:\
    :pl#64:tc=generic_epson:

and created the spooling directory /usr/spool/lpd/ssrb108. Basically,
this did the trick, though I found that, as one of my correspondants
pointed out, I had to use the modem port instead of the printer port.
