  [.. problems about using a Logitech C-9 mouse ..]

Although there are no problems with the mouse while in X windows
(and there really is no reason to leave them once you are in :-),
this starting glitch is irritating. I called Interactive and
they deny any knowledge of a software problems with this mouse,
instead suggesting that it might be defective. The mouse is
plugged into COM1 with its own interrupt 4. Trying two different
IO boards with two different UARTs does not change the situation.

Has anyone heard of such a problem and, preferably, a cure? The
mouse is new and could possibly be defective, although works fine
with everything else I tried. I couldn't borrow this specific
kind of mouse to swap-test it.

We have had the exact same problems and reported them to Hollis, there
reply initialy was the same [we don't know of any problem... HA]. After
further pressure saying this was with several C-9 mice and that C-7's
work fine, they 'investigated further' and said that was a know problem
and the next release of X11 would fix it. Well, we got in release 1.1
last week and the problem remains...

Oh, one other thing we are experiencing with the C-9 is that a VT switch
will bring down X, the XError message being the same as failed startup.
