A complaint, and a request

First the request:

I have a friend (no net access, alas )-:
who needs graphics primatives (line, dot, etc...) to display
on an EGA display for his Uport 2.3L system. It would be nice
to be able to display to any one of the N-number of con# devices,
but just the root console is acceptable.

I remember someone, ( as have meny others in this group reciently :-)
who posted that (s)he had developed such a monster, and was willing
to share. Could that person (or anyone w/ source) please either e-mail
me a response, or else post it to comp.sources ? I would be glad
to mail disks and pay return postage for them.

Next the complaint (and pseudo-request):

(it's getting a little warm in here =~ )
I want a C compiler that generates OPTIMIZED CODE that doesn't
dump core everytime!!! (AAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!)

I am trying to compile the K-shell which only compiles into the
small model, and only fits into 64k code when optimized!
I've managed to compile everything with the -O -Ms options,
and actually managed to LINK.

BUT LOOKOUT WHEN TRYING TO RUN THE EXECUTABLE! It dumps all over the
system, and then never exectues! Also infamous for this 'little quirk'
is GNU-chess, HDB, etc...

BTW - I've gotten several messages from people who have gotten KSH
to run on other '286 unix-es, so there's no problem about the 16-bit
code!

( The constant 'hash table overflow' error was ENOUGH! --
supposed to be fixed in 2.3, but now WE are told to
cut OUR modules up better?!?!)

(flames off, cooling system on, Nurse! get this patient a budweiser!)

Does anyone out there know a C compiler that will generate optimized
code without dumping? Or is microport trying to look into any
patches and/or re-releases that will help alleviate this problem?
I'm just interested in getting this sucker up and running, without
constantly worrying about compiler problems.

Thanx for the bandwidth, keep those fixes flowing ;-)
