Two-drive problem

Just to add to the list of people who have reported in: I have a Western
Digital "1003-WA2" controller, and a Seagate 4051 drive. I have tried
three different disks as the second disk, and got errors (on both drives)
each time.

It is a truly obnoxious problem, complicated by the fact that Microport
unix, when confronted with a read error, seems to put the block in
question into the buffer cache anyway. Thus the trashed block (which is
fine on the disk) becomes the "official" block, and, if modified, gets
written back to the drive. Very poor behavior, if you ask me.
