backup utility for unix (Convex)

We are currently using a csh script written internally using the dump command to perform our backup functions.

As we've grown, this has become more and more cumbersome due to the manner in which dump stores files on
tape.

What I am interested in is any 3rd party software available to do the backups and track the tapes and files
on those tapes.  I don't have time to rewrite our utility; it's cheaper to buy it from someone else.

Any good suggestions?  I always look for net opinion above any other!
