UUCP Information..

I am hoping that someone will be able to give me some good advice. I
am looking for some good reference material on the actual process UUCP
goes through to exchange information and files. What I am hoping to do is
design a small and flexible version of UUCP to run on my Apple II.
Unfortunately, no one has ever done this before and I dont trust any of
the C compilers available to port the UUCP code over with. What I need is
exact and detailed information on what UUCP does from the minute it either
recieves a call or starts a call all the way through to the point
when it is done exchanging information.

What I really don't need is a lot of information dealing with Unix specific
information because it won't be running under a Unix environment.

It would also be helpful to get some information on mail formats and
other misc. information that may be helpful.

Anyway, any information you may be able to give me will be helpful. I
know this may be a big job but if I can find the time to do it, it may be
interesting and cheaper than getting a 286 and Xenix just to recieve small
amounts of mail. Thanks...

(If you can recommend any reference materials, books, magazines, or anything
else you can think of, please send it to me in mail and thanks again!)
