remote print to vax vms

I am running ultrix 4.0 on a ds5000. The printers I have access to, an
ln03 and an apple laserwriter, are hooked up to a vax running vms.
Althoug it is easy to set up printcap to treat these as remote printers,
passing options to them does not work, because vms controls printing
options by "forms." Has anybody any recommendations for for setting up
these remote printers to allow some control over printing options, e.g.
portrait vs landscape or even just getting the laserwriter to print in
postscript? (The managers of the vax did not even set up the laserwriter
so that the default form was postscript!)
