No headers on wiz mail;request for mailer info

I see messages with unpleasantly long headers: they have a
date, from,to,cc,re,and via lines, and when they come from smb at duke
two more lines telling me who he really is and how to reach him by
phone, both of which by now I've memorized.
I imagine the problem is more with mail readers than the mailers
which probably need to supply the lowest common denominator
needed by the forwarding software?
	I'd be interested to read how all the internet stuff works
Are there descriptions in print or FTP'able from the arpanet?
