The Mechanical Systems Group at Philips Labs has a need
for private or commercially available simulation tools that
perform the following analysis:

1). Mechanical Stress-Strain Analysis: General purpose, finite
element stress analysis program. The program should have a
wide variety of pre- and post-processors, to free the user
from the time consuming, tedious details of i/o. Graphic
output is essential, so that the results may be visualized.
It should also be able to do Heat transfer analysis.

2). Dynamic Simulation: Electro-mechanical systems are generally
dynamic systems, and the analysis of systems with more than
two degrees of freedom requires a computer program. Addition-
ally, many of the systems we deal with are non-linear,
requiring the use of simulation techniques.

We have found programs to meet each area of our needs that satis-
fy all of the above criteria. These programs are:

a). ANSYS (Swanson Analysis Systems, Inc.)- solves stress
	    strain, vibration, and thermal problems.

b). CSM/O/P (Berne Electronics, Inc.)- performs dynamic
	    analysis.

These programs unfortunately run under VMS and we run UNIX. The
manufactures have no plan to convert them into UNIX. We would
like to know if anyone out there has converted these programs
into UNIX or has programs which are equivalent to them. We are
willing to buy, rent, make donations, or steal these program
from anyone if they prove useful and bug free. Please send
your reply to philabs!ras as soon as possible.
	Thanks in advance.

p.s. We also have a IBM 370, if you have these programs running
	 under CMS let me know.
