Unix PC and phone lines

Something I have been trying to find out now, for some time, with
little success:

I have a Unix PC on my desk, but have only one phone line. I would
like to write a program which will switch the line from voice to data, or
back. That way, I could have it called before uucico to switch over the line,
and then switch it back when uucico finishes. Also, I could have it
automatically switch over at night (for late night access) and back again in
the morning. Unfortunately, I can find no documentation on how to do this.
I have prowled around the scripts that the telephone manager uses, and have
some ideas, but there also seem to be a couple different include files, with
two different sets of ioctls for controlling the phone lines. Does anyone
have the straight scoop on this, or can anyone point me to the right person
to contact? Thanks.
