BM and -v

The latest version of the BM sources that we have does not support
the (fgrep) -v flag.  Since we'd really like to just replace fgrep
with bm, this is something of a hindrance.  I took a quick look at the
sources and concluded that this was not an absolutely trivial change.
Has anyone done it already?
