Incremental dumps using cpio: BAD NEWS

 Another (potentially) "insidious" problem we experienced:

  Our backup shell script, stored in etc, as /etc/backup ;

 Due to the fact that we added several related report scripts, backup
 was moved down one level, resulting in /etc/backup/backup ;

 - had to reload disks, etc; due to "disaster", had to start with
   2-month old full backup;

   cpio overwrote the "newer" DIRECTORY named backup with the "older"
   shell script backup, i.e.,

   /etc/backup/*  disappeared, /etc/backup substituted in its place.
