That's the problem.

| I've never used a Sun, but I'm sure their windows are even nicer.

They are nice. But we can't afford one (or other bit mapped terminal)
for everybody.

And although I've never used shell layers as in System V, I gather
from those who do that they are oriented towards bit mapped terminals,
and that on an ascii terminal it is easy to lose track of where you are.

For such as myself, and I suspect a large proportion (at least) of
us are in the same position, job control seems the most practical
way of doing things.
