ptrace examples needed

I am looking for simple example programs illustrating the use of the ptrace
system call.

I have tried to get the examples in M.J. Bach's book to work, but failed.
(Anybody knows why ?)

Any working program would be good. I can work on Sun's (SunOS 3.4), VAXen
(Mt.Xinu 4.3), and Sequent (DYNIX 3.0.8).

Any help is appreciated.
