Trojan Horses

Since Ken Thompson's famous Trojan horse has recently been mentioned in
Unix-Wizards again, I thought I'd cite a published reference (again).
Both it and Dennis Ritchie's Turing Award lecture in the same issue of
CACM are worth the short time it takes to read them.

%X To what extent should we trust a statement that a program
is free of Trojan horses? Perhaps it is more important to
trust the people who wrote the software.
