Help us defend against VMS!

	Anyone who can answer this article with a firm response that ??? is
better then *** is not worth listening to.  Both operating systems have there
place, and until you can indicate what purpose you will use them for, all you
will receive is useless flamage.....

	Here at Utah, we run both, we do heavy number crunching with load
balancing on our vaxcluster using VMS since we feel it is better for that
type of situation, and for the robotic control efforts we use Unix boxes. And
yes they both talk to each other just fine, and people work on both just fine
and I here just as many complaints of the 'why doesn't unix keep multiple
versions' type as of the 'why doesn't vms have good filters'.

	First define what you want to accomplish over the next several years -
is it teaching? cs research? production activities?..... THEN repost your
question.
