I had a similar problem a couple of years ago, when I went from a
286 to a 386 box running SCO Xenix (2.2.1 at the time).
When I did my initial installation on the 386, I had a problem with
the screen (it was monchrome with a generic mono video card) flickering
intermitently. A simple trip to my clone dealer produced another
manufacturer's video card, and my problem went away. I'm still using
the same card 2 years later.
I doubt that you have a driver problem; you may have mis-set a jumper
(you'll have to check your specific docs for that), but in my case it
was simply a card that would have worked fine in a 4.77 mhz xt, but
should never have been installed (by the clone-maker) in a 20mhz 386.
(They don't use that card any more.) --ed
