Try adding -LARGE to your cc flags:
 	cc -LARGE -M2le -Mt32 -O -DSYSV -DCURSES -DREGCMP -DUSG  -c main.c

This causes cc to invoke a different set of the compiler
passes that are themselves large model, and hopefully have
a larger heap/stack.
