Help: CDC WREN IV on a Sun 3/60

The machine I'm sending this from is a 3/60 with a Wren IV attached. This
particular model is an older one, about 304Mb formatted, with embedded
SCSI controller. From past experience, you can format in SunOS 3.4/3.5 as
EITHER an MD21 or Adaptec controlled device. I spent several evenings
trying to sort this beast out; the CDC documentation is not particularly
helpful, so I tried lots of things (weirder as the night progressed). By
the way, SunOS 4.0.x has a neat file called /etc/format.dat with
information on quite a few non-Sun devices (including Wren IVs and Vs).

The SCSI controller on this disk will do other amazing things, too; for
instance, you can use pretty much any sectors/track and related info as
long as the total number of bytes/disk is <= the actual number (honest!).

If your Wren IV is a bare ESDI device, please disregard all the above...
