AIX PS/2 modem configuration

Our experience has shown that the getty program does indeed send
Hayes specific modem commands to the modem.  Because of this, it
is difficult to use IBM modems on the PS/2...

Our solution was to use emacs to edit the binaries of getty and
remove the offending character sequences.  We used this trick to
our advantage when we needed to send commands to the modem to
make it work on a dedicated line.  This might help you with your
need to make the modem answer on the third ring.

Also, we have found various IBM representatives to be quite fond
of saying that this is not a problem, or "gosh, I've never seen
this before."  It borders on being pathetic.
