GNU emacs and Tape drive

Hello,

	I am having some troubles compilling GNU emacs 18.54 in A/UX 1.1.
Yes, I did say GNU and the "A" word all in the same sentence.  Can
anyone out in net-land help me?

	I am also looking for a tape drive that won't require a third
mortage on my house.  Any suggestion ?  (I would like to write DC600
tapes on our Sun is there a way I could read it in under A/UX?)

	Please Email all responces, and I'll summarize the answers.
