Seeking Wisdom on '780 with 64K-intlved memory

We have recently intstalled a VAX11/780 with the newer
64K interleaved memory under 4.1 BSD and have been experiencing
3-times-a-week "panic type 8"'s under an apperently idle system.
Our other VAXes are running identical s/w with almost identical
configurations, but without the 64K-I memory. (We had to add the
nexus type to autoconf.c to allow it to be recognized). Oh, and
naturally all the DEC diagnostics pass fine...
   A while back I had seen a comment in unix-wizards or ...bugs.4bsd
that 4.1 BSD (and 4.2) was not handling errors on the newer memory
correctly, and that the changes were relatively trivial, but neglected
to mention them.
Would anyone knowing more about the problem above drop me a line?
As of yet it hasn't reached the nuisance level, but that is sure to
change.

Thanks again,
